What is Read-A-Thon?
Read-A-Thon is a free reading program that encourages children to read for pleasure. Conducted over a period of two weeks, this has been a hugely popular summer contest at EasyLib. Children can read books from anywhere. The idea is for them to read as many books as they can in two weeks. The one who reads the most wins the prize! Read-A-Thon is conducted world-wide by libraries and schools to encourage children to read, now brought to Bangalore by the online library EasyLib.com and Puffin Books India.
How does Read-A-Thon work?
Read-A-Thon is held for two weeks. During this time, participating children will read as many books as they can from anywhere, not necessarily from EasyLib. They write a short review of each book they read and email the reviews to us by the due date.
Who wins?
Top three readers from each age-group will win an attractive book hamper from Puffin and Lady Bird Books. In May (date TBA) a get-together of all the event participants is arranged at the library. All participants get certificates.
Who can participate?
Children and Young Adults between the ages of 5 and 18.
What kind of books should I read?
Look here for suggested reading.
5 to 7 years : Picture books
8 to 10 years: Books with at least 80 pages.
11 to 13 years: Books with at least 150 pages.
14 to 18 years: Books with at least 250 pages.
How do I record my reading?
Please mail the library at help@easylib.com to register the child, with his/her age. We will send you a format in which to enter the details. Enter the details and send it to the library by 7 pm on the 5th of May. Emails should be sent from the parent/guardian’s email id or endorsed by them.
Happy reading!
